1 John 3:1-3

1How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 2Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. 3Everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as he is pure.

The primary message: God Loves you!

John writes this message to the people of 1 John as a reminder to them what their identity is as Children of God, even though they themselves sometimes loose sight of that identity.

This passage is very much one of assurance of the identity of a follower of Jesus; it is, in a way, a reality check for those who are in danger of losing hope.

What is in store for the child of God whom He loves:

1. We are identified with Him (vs. 1), whether we believe it or not.

2. We will be like Him.

3. We will see Him. (vs. 2)

Conclusion (vs. 3) because we have this hope, we live in obedience to God.

November Creative Team Meeting:

the word Love in different languages

bumper stickers on facebook...going off that look.

God's love is so much more powerful than what we throw around, so if we portray a frilly love, then we might loose the depth.

Do another scotty on the street: what is love to you?

Little kids dressed up in “workforce” clothes. Children of God....like little kids playing dress up

or adults dressed up as kids.

Strip the room of everything to show the fact that the love of God cannot be depicted.

Do a video showing a parallel between two people's lives, one with christ and one without. Show a relationship, one with a Christ centered focus, and one without.

Faces made of words.

Fathers and sons.

What looks cool. Simplistic. Ambient.

Get the LED lights, maybe even on truss. Accentuating the words. Gives more of a feel to it. Uplighting.

Lots of plants.

Have everyone face the opposite way.

Use the stage from the auditorium, then camera stands, having different heights.

Get rid of the bookstore

Make actual cut outs of the word love, paint them black, and hang them from the ceiling

Kids blocks built to spell the world love.

Theres so much stuff that we take for granted, and we go through our daily lives, and look around and what he's provided, and the magnitude of God's love. As americans we are so overly blessed that in this time of recession, we are complaining about not having as much luxury. We are very ignorant to the fact that our lifestyles are so luxurious.
